American Heart Association and American Stroke Association

American Telemedicine Association -- a leading resource and advocate promoting access to medical care for consumers and health professionals via telecommunications technology.

Association of Telehealth Service Providers -- an international membership-based organization dedicated to improving health care through growth of the telehealth industry.

California Telemedicine and eHealth Center--The California Telemedicine & eHealth Center (CTEC) is a source of knowledge on the development and operation of telemedicine and telehealth programs. CTEC is nationally recognized as one of six federally designated Telehealth Resource Centers around the country.

Center for Telehealth and E-Health Law -- provides public policy analysis on telehealth, e-health, and emerging technologies.

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Health Resources and Services Administration--The Health Resources and Services Administration promotes the widespread availability and use of digital networks to improve access to health care services for people who are uninsured, isolated or medically vulnerable.

Health Information Technology is the use of information and communication technology in health care. Health Information Technology can include:

electronic health records
personal health records
e-mail communication
clinical alerts and reminders
computerized decision support systems
hand-held devices
other technologies that store, protect, retrieve and transfer clinical, administrative, and financial information electronically within health care settings.

National Rural Health Resource Center (NRHRC) --a national non-profit organization based in Duluth, Minnesota. Serves as the knowledge center for rural hospitals, and provide technical assistance, information, education and other resources to rural health care providers and their communities. Primary areas of focus are:

Performance Improvement (PI)
Health Care Work Force
Community Health Initiatives

Telemedicine Information Exchange -- a comprehensive, international, resource for information about telemedicine, telehealth, and telemedicine/telehealth related activities.

Telehealth Resource Centers--In 2006 the then federal Office for the Advancement of Telehealth initiated a regional telehealth resource center grant program to provide support and guidance to telehealth programs. The five Telehealth Resource Centers (TRCs) have a mission to serve as a focal point for advancing the effective use of telehealth and support access to telehealth services in rural and underserved communities. The TRCs have extensive telehealth experience and can provide services, resources and tools to both developing and operating programs. Each TRC also has an understanding of regional concerns and the climate for telehealth in their geographic region. You will find many tools to assist your program on each of the TRC websites. The five centers are: CTeL, California Telemedicine & eHealth Center, Great Plains Telehealth Resource & Assistance Center, Northwest Regional Telehealth Resource Center, and Southwest Telehealth Resource Center.

Virginia Community Healthcare Association -- a non-profit health care association representing a large component of primary care "safety net" providers. Members include Community Health Centers, Rural Health Centers, Migrant Health Centers and similar non-profit community based health care practices providing primary care, dental care, pharmaceutical services, behavioral health, and preventative health services in medically underserved areas.

Virginia Department of Health -- is made up of a statewide central office in Richmond and 35 local health districts. These entities work together to promote healthy lifestyle choices that can combat chronic disease, to educate the public about emergency preparedness and threats to their health, and to track disease outbreaks in Virginia.

Virginia Rural Health Association -- an organization focused on improving the health of Virginia's rural residents by providing care, and planning for the delivery of care and health care services.
